The DDT pigging
process is the safest and most expeditious way to clean fired heater
tubes. DDT is the innovator of the fired heater cleaning concept utilizing
a revolutionary polymer Pigg ®. The DDT process employs a closed loop,
self contained hydraulic system, making it a very safe and environmentally
friendly way to clean heater tubes. DDT is the holder of many patents
world wide and has also licenced the use of the technology to third
parties. It is the only technology that will remove every kind of deposit
in all types of fired heaters. Because the DDT process uses no chemicals
and works at ambient temperatures, it can be used to clean a multiplicity
of process lines, such as convection section, external crossover lines,
coke transfer lines, and other sections that cannot be Steam-Air
decoked.
BIDIRECTIONAL SCRUBBING ACTION
The DDT
process is bidirectional, allowing the cleaning Pigg ® to traverse the
heater tubes in both directions. It is the only process that can direct
the Pigg ® to travel over the most contaminated section "ONLY", in a
repeated back and forward motion. This repeated scrubbing action in the
most fouled section expedites the cleaning process and reduces contact in
areas of non contamination. Consequently, pipes which are free of coke
deposits are not unduly abraded or scratched, as happens with other pig
cleaning methods.
MINIMAL CUSTOMER INVOLVEMENT
The
customer is only responsible to supply access to the inlet and outlet
tubes of the heater to be cleaned, fresh water supply and effluent
recovery. Depending on the furnace design, crossover lines may in have to
be installed in special cases. The DDT supervisor will coordinate all
operations with the refinery personnel to assure the furnace has been
properly prepared and that all safety and refinery procedures are being
followed.
